Afghan

My mom knitted this really pretty afghan as a wedding gift. I am meeting my mom in San Antonio, TX next week and can't wait to see her.

Passport

I received my new passport in the mail Friday.
Now Ted and I can start planning our honeymoon in Mexico.

Lompoc Flower Festival

Ted and I went to the Lompoc Flower Festival this morning with our friends Vince and Carolyn. We were feeling adventurous so we rode the ferris wheel. The 3rd and 4th pictures are views from the top of the ferris wheel. We took pictures in front of the merry-go-round, and then I found the funniest trash can I have ever seen and I could not resist taking a picture. As we were leaving the festival people were handing out flowers that had been used on a float during the parade. We all got lots of beautiful gladiolas (last picture). The weather was perfect for a fun outing in Lompoc.

Friends

Ted and I met our friends Vince and Carolyn for dinner this evening. We stopped for a picture outside the Arlington Theater. Look how cute Carolyn's shoes are. :)

Carlitos

I was lazy and did not take any pictures yesterday so today I will post two. Ted and I met our friends Vince and Carolyn at Carlitos this evening for dinner and had a very tasty meal.

New Class

I started a new HR class this evening. This class is held on UCSB's campus so I am excited about getting some neat pictures. Tonight I was running late (as usual) so I am substituting, what should in later weeks be beautiful pictures of UCSB's campus, with a picture of the course textbook.

Toblerone

Last Wednesday was the final night of my HR Recruiting class. We played a game of Jeopardy and my team won. Our teacher gave us Toblerone chocolate as a prize. Yea us.

Loss

Today I learned about the passing of a woman I met through work. We were the same age (maybe 1-2 years apart) and at a similar stage in our lives. All I can think of is what a huge loss for her friends and family.

Author

Jodi Picoult is one of my favorite authors. I really appreciate her writing style. I purchased this book in Solvang yesterday. The only problem is once I start one of her books I find it hard to put down until I've finished it.

Solvang

Ted and I braved the 100 degree weather (yes it really was 100 degrees) and hung out in Solvang this afternoon. Solvang is a small Danish town near Lompoc. It has cute shops and lots of big wooden shoes.

Date night

Tonight we are going to watch one of Ted's favorite movies. I have not seen Roxanne in probably 10 years.

Wedding Memories

Today I drove by Crumbs (www.sbcrumbs.com), the bakery that made our wedding cake. The owners/bakers are so nice and the cake they made for us was unbelievable- both visually and taste wise. The second picture is of the Sexton House, a historic home in Goleta. Ted and I spent our wedding night at the hotel located on the same property. We took a lot of pre-ceremony pictures at the Sexton House.

Mu

Mu makes his second appearance on my blog. I stayed at my friend's Carolyn and Vince's house last night and Mu was his usual funny self.

Done, Done, And Done

I just finished the final exam and the final project for my HR recruiting class. It is a very interesting subject matter, but I am so glad the last class is tomorrow night. I don't think I can handle any more homework for a while.

Dinner With Friends

Happy Father's Day

In honor of Father's Day I decided to share a picture of my dad and me on my wedding day. My dad did a great job smiling the entire way down the aisle. I, on the other hand, bawled the entire time.

Class Project

Unfortunately a large portion of my weekend is being spent working on my class final. It's very unfortunate that the project counts for 40% of my final grade so I actually need to put forth effort in completing the project. Don't feel too sorry for me though. I've had 12 weeks to work on it. Of course per my procrastinating nature I only started 1 week before it's due.

Monterey

I wasn't feeling very inspired today so I did not take any pictures. Instead I thought I would share a picture of Ted and me during our trip to Monterey, CA in May 2006. We drove up Route 1- Big Sur Coast Highway. It was a beautiful drive and this is one spot where we stopped for pictures.

Dolly Parton

This is undoubtedly one of my favorite albums. I love Dolly. Even though I grew up in North Carolina I did not start listening to country music until after I graduated from college. Now I am a huge fan.

I realize my blog is saturated with pictures of books I am reading and my cat Callie. My life may seem boring to some, but reading and Callie are two things I am passionate about.

Happy Birthday Callie

We celebrated Callie's 10th birthday today. She was not too thrilled with the party hats and noise makers but she loved her birthday treat of tuna fish. All of the celebrating wore her out.

Dinner And A movie

Tonight is date night and we were supposed to have dinner (pizza- yum!) and watch a movie. I made it through dinner but pooped out before the movie.

The Hitching Post

My best friend Nicole and her husband Bryce are in town celebrating their 4th wedding anniversary. Ted and I fortunately had the chance to meet them for dinner at The Hitching Post.

In-N-Out Again

I am interested to see how many appearances In-N-Out will make in my POD blog. It is one of my favorite places to eat and I ate here for dinner tonight.

Today is my grandmother's 93rd birthday. I took this picture on 2/12/2007 during a trip to NC to visit family. Pictured is me, my grandmother and my mom. I love my grandmother very much and wish I could see her more often.

YMCA

I love going to the YMCA on the weekends because there are so few people there. It feels like my own personal gym.
