Baby Blankets

Why is it that baby items are so irresistible? When shopping for baby showers it's all I can do to not buy everything on the registry. One of my co-workers is having a baby boy, and I bought her these two blankets today from Target.

Filet-o-Fish

I have not eaten a filet-o-fish sandwich in probably 15 years (at least), however for some reason McDonald's recent TV ad that features the filet-o-fish sandwich has left me craving one. Tonight I broke down and bought one. It wasn't too bad. Pretty much just how I remember it tasting. I guess that's advertising at work.

Scrabble

Ted and I played a spirited game of Scrabble this evening. Ted won, as usual.

How appropriate that I received the latest Carolina Alumni Review on the same day that the UNC men's basketball team beat Gonzaga in the 2009 NCAA tournament. Go Heels!

Tradeshow Fan

I did not take a picture on Thursday, so I'm cheating a bit by posting a picture I took on 3/27/2009. This is the fan Ted brought me from the trade show he attending this week. He picked it up from one of the exhibitors. It's definitely more unique than handing out regular business cards.

New Moon

I am officially hooked on the Twilight series. I bought the second book last weekend and I can't wait to start reading it.

Aqua Nail Bar And Boutique

Carolyn and Vince got me a gift certificate to Aqua Nail Bar And Boutique as a thank you for co-hosting their baby shower. It is extremely thoughtful of them, and I look forward to relaxing with a wonderful mani-pedi.

The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor

Ted and I watched The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor Friday evening. I have not seen the other two Mummy movies, but this one was pretty good.

La Purisima Mission

It turned out to be a gorgeous day so Ted and I went to La Purisima mission to walk around the grounds and feed the animals. We didn't actually feed the turkey, but I wanted to post a picture as it was quite large and colorful. This is the first time we've seen a turkey at the mission.

Jillian's Cupcake Cake

Toni brought a cupcake birthday cake for Jillian's birthday today. It's somewhat hard to see the scale of the cupcake, but it is the size of a regular cake. I've never seen a cupcake this large before. It was really cute.

Ghost Town

Ted and I watched Ghost Town last night. It was quite cute.

Daffodil Days Revisited

The daffodils opened and they are gorgeous. They smell wonderful too. How could these flowers not brighten your day?

French Berry Lemonade

Safeway Select French Berry Lemonade is a very tasty beverage. I tried it for the first time recently and I am hooked.

Daffodil Days

Daffodil Days is a fundraiser by the American Cancer Society to raise money for cancer research. You can purchase bouquets of daffodils for yourself or you can purchase bouquets to be delivered anonymously to cancer patients in the community. I purchased two bouquets for delivery to local cancer patients. The bouquets were delivered today, and the person who coordinates Daffodil Days in my office mentioned they dropped off two extra bouquets so she gave one to me. In a few days I hope to post another picture of the daffodils in full bloom. Who does not love fresh flowers? Especially when they are as beautiful and vibrant as daffodils.

12 Days Of Wellness

Last December I participated in the 12 Days of Wellness at the Lompoc YMCA. If you worked out at least 12 days in December you received a free t-shirt. I did work out 12 days in December but no one mentioned my t-shirt... until today. When I was leaving the YMCA this afternoon the guy at the front desk handed me my t-shirt. He said they were waiting for me to pick it up and it has been behind the front desk counter since January. I didn't realize I was supposed to ask for it, but never mind that now because I have a brand new YMCA t-shirt; yea!

Carolyn And Vince's Baby Shower- Yea!

Casey, Ashlie, and I hosted Carolyn and Vince's baby shower today. I took a ton of pictures (which I still need to send Carolyn and Vince), but I wanted to post some highlights. The first picture is the shower banner that was hung on the garage door. The second picture is Casey preparing mimosas. The third picture is Carolyn eating cheesecake. Picture #4 is of the proud parents. Picture #5 is me, Casey, Carolyn, Vince, and Ashlie. Picture #6 was taken during one of several games. Pictures #7-9 are pictures of the four brave souls who participated in the "beer chug from a sippy cup" challenge. It was hilarious to watch. Ashlie's husband won. The last picture is of the party favors.

Kite Runner

I've heard wonderful things about The Kite Runner so I was excited when the movie arrived. I started watching it this evening but stopped after 30 minutes. I was bored out of my skull. I'm bummed as I have been looking forward to seeing this movie.

Queen For The Day

Today was Ann's birthday, and her cubicle mate put up this great big queen of club playing card on her cubicle wall. I love it. I hope I get to be queen for the day on my next birthday.

Our nephew Brandon turned 5 in February. His mom emailed us pictures from his birthday party at school.

Lions And Tigers And Bears, Oh My

This is the gift bag I bought for Carolyn and Vince's baby shower gift. I don't know if they have a particular affinity to lions, but the bag was too cute and I couldn't resist.

In The Shadow Of The Moon

Ted and I watched In the Shadow of the Moon yesterday. This is a fantastic documentary. A must see.

One Year Anniversary

Today is our 1 year wedding anniversary. It was a very low-key day but we did exchange cards and gifts. Ted bought me the Little House on the Prairie book set. It is the perfect gift for me as I have wanted these books for quite a while. I read this series when I was young and I loved them. It's a little hard to see, but I wrote out the lyrics to our first dance song, Nothing Can Change This Love, by Sam Cooke and framed it for Ted. I'm pleased with both of our interpretations of the traditional first year anniversary gift- paper. Here's to 50 more years.

Dinner With Megan

Megan and I had dinner at Cafe Marmalade in Santa Barbara this evening. I have not seen Megan in several months, and it was nice that we had the chance to catch up over a delicious meal.

Anniversary Dinner

Sunday is our 1 year wedding anniversary and we celebrated this evening at Stella Mare's. We got married on March 8, 2008 at Stella Mare's Event Center in Santa Barbara. The folks at Stella Mare's are wonderful and we enjoyed a fabulous anniversary meal.

Another purchase from Walmart last weekend. This is a fantastic CD.

Twilight

I've heard so much about the Twilight series, so when I saw it at the checkout stand at Walmart last weekend I figured I would buy it. It was only $9.00 and I figured what the heck. I started reading it yesterday and I'm already hooked. I'm glad I started reading the series after all of the books were written so I can read straight through to the end.

Eagle Eye

Ted and watched Eagle Eye last weekend. There is not much more to say about that.

One Last Day Of Birthday Treats

Very unexpectedly, when I arrived at work this morning my office was decorated again. This time with a cat theme. One of the cats on the banner looks a lot like Callie so I took a close up shot. A coworker also baked me a red velvet cake- one of my all time favorites. I really thought all of my birthday treats were behind me and this came as a huge surprise.
