Good Friends

We met our friends Tim and Connie and their kids Drea and Dean for dinner this evening. They live in Michigan and this is the first time we've seen them since our wedding. Ted, Tim, and Connie all went to USCB together and they've been friends for over 15 years. We adore Drea and Dean and wish we got to see them all more often.

District 9

Ted and I saw District 9 this afternoon. I had no clue of the premise of this movie. If I had known what it was about I would not have gone to see it. I didn't like it at all.

Thank You Card

I received this card in the mail today. It's so nice to receive hand written cards in the mail. Especially when they are completely unexpected. It puts a smile on my face.

More Lilly's

Super yummy dinner at Lilly's this evening. Ted was very adventurous and he ordered 2 cheek, 1 tongue, and 1 marinated pork tacos. I stuck with the very safe beef tacos. We polished off our tacos in no time flat. Delicious.

V. Sattui

My coworker Melanie went to Napa last week. My favorite winery in Napa is V. Sattui and I suggested she check it out. She did go and she brought me bottle of Muscat, my favorite V. Sattui wine. I'm not a big wine drinker but V. Sattui's wines are quite nice. You can read more about V. Sattui on their website: www.vsattui.com.

Saltines and ginger ale are an upset stomach's best friends. I have an upset stomach from food poisoning. Yuck!

La Purisima Golf Course

Ted's dad is an accomplished golfer, and he took us to the driving range a few weeks ago. Ted's dad would like Ted and me to improve our golf games so we can play golf with him when he visits. Ted and I went to La Purisima Golf Course today for driving range and putting green practice.

I Love You Man

Ted and I watched I Love You, Man last night. It's pretty funny.

Grasshopper Brownies

Today was Jessica's (an intern who worked for my company this summer) last day. My co-worker Dan made grasshopper brownies to celebrate her last day. So yummy.

Why Oh Why?

I would love to know why this Vons shopping cart is in my company's parking lot. The nearest Vons is 2 miles from my office. Just another of life's mysteries.

Ted's Dad

We took these pictures on 8/12/2009, the morning Ted's dad left for Korea. He was planning on staying longer but work obligations caused him to leave early. We hope to see him and Ted's mom soon.

My sister is getting married! She called me today and asked me to be her matron of honor. I'm so happy for her and Quincy.

Callie

Callie found this freshly washed mattress cover in the guest room yesterday. Of course it was my fault because I left the door open. It was also my fault that I let her back in this afternoon after I found her meowing pitifully outside the closed guest room door. I figure I have to rewash it anyway so why not let her enjoy it a little while longer. I am such a pushover.

Ash

There are two wild fires burning east of Santa Maria and lots of ash is blowing down to Goleta. The first picture is the ash on Ted's car. The second picture is ash on the pavement in my office parking lot.

Starbucks

My department's basket raised the most money for United Way and we received this Starbucks gift card as a prize. Yea team!

Stimulus For The Senses

As part of my company's United Way campaign, each department donates a gift basket for our silent auction. This year my department put together a "Stimulus for the Senses" gift basket. It is a picnic basket with two wine glasses, a wine bottle opener, a tablecloth, napkins, a small cutting board, a cheese knife, several goodies from Harry and David, chocolates, and a Quiznos gift card. I may have to bid on our basket myself.

Final Class

The Fall 2009 UCSB Extension course catalog arrived in the mail today. It's hard to believe but it's been two years since I started the Human Resources certification program and next quarter will be my final class. Woohoo!
