Trip to SLO

Ted and I are planning a weekend getaway to San Luis Obispo in April. We live about 1 1/2 hours away from SLO but we've never been except to drive through. We've both heard great things about SLO so we are going to check it out. I found the first activity we will do in SLO- this great bike tour of many of SLO's sights and attractions.

Colorful Candy

Someone in my office brought in these colorful jellybeans and I thought the colors were bright and quite beautiful.

Photo Finish

I ordered a few pictures from the 1/2 marathon I ran in January and they arrived today. This is a picture of a picture of me crossing the finish line. I look a bit crazy but I guess I did just run 13.1 miles so I don't feel too bad about how I look.

The Invention of Lying

Ted and I watched The Invention of Lying this evening. Although there is some funny dialog this is not Ricky Gervais' best work.

Yellow Elephant

Ted attended a trade show in San Diego last week and he brought me this yellow elephant.

Membership Directory

I received the SBHRA 2010 membership directory today. I guess I didn't submit my application in time to make the printed directory at least I am listed in the online directory.

Sweet Cheeks

I caught up with Carolyn and Ilaria today. Ilaria was her usual sweet self. Mu was his usual charming self as well and spent his time in the sun.

Four Christmases

I watched Four Christmases yesterday evening. It's definitely a chick flick.

Legal Update Swag

I attended a legal update seminar this morning and the parting gift was this USB flash drive. I don't know if I'll ever use it but it's a pretty useful gift.

Book Club

I started a book club with a woman I work with and our first book selection is The Help. We only have two people in our book club but that's all you need.

Roxy

My friend Cynthia's daughter is a member of 4H and she is raising a pig to display at the Santa Maria fair. Ted and I stopped by this afternoon to meet Roxy. Roxy is one lucky pig; she has a great pen in their side yard and she gets lots of attention.

Zoo Day

We met Carolyn, Vince, and Ilaria at the Santa Barbara zoo this afternoon. It was a beautiful day to check out the animals and hang out with good friends.

Save The Date

My friend Pat's daughter is getting married and I just received their save the date magnet.

Baby Steps

I stopped in to see Carolyn and Ilaria today and I can't believe how much Ilaria has grown. She's no longer a baby, she's a little girl. She is testing the waters in regards to walking and she even took a few steps while I was there that I captured on video. Such a happy girl.

New Pillows

I bought new pillows for Ted and me at Costco this afternoon. I hope they help us sleep better.

Everybody's Fine

I watched Everybody's Fine this evening. It has a great cast but the movie was much sadder and slower than I expected.

2010 Census... We Count

Ted dutifully completed the 2010 census for our household this evening.

Helpful Callie

Callie saw me dusting the cabinet and decided to jump up and help. It didn't last long; I'm surprised she stayed there long enough for me to snap this picture.

Official Race Certificate

I received my official 1/2 marathon race certificate in the mail. Too bad I have not kept up with my running since the race. Hopefully one of these days I will start running again.

Moon

Ted and I watched Moon Wednesday night. I am a fan of Sam Rockwell but the movie was a bit too science fictiony for me.

Diced Tomatoes

We are having a nacho potluck at work tomorrow and I signed up to bring tomatoes. I spent a long time dicing these tomatoes and I have to admit I think they look pretty good.

The Hurt Locker

Ted and I watched The Hurt Locker last Saturday night. It was quite timely considering the movie won a slew of awards at the Oscars the next evening. It was an interesting movie but I don't know if I would say it's the best movie of 2009. Luckily for the makers of The Hurt Locker my opinion doesn't matter.

Last week was library week. This is my latest haul.

Low-key Anniversary Day

Today is our 2nd wedding anniversary and we celebrated in a low-key way. The traditional wedding gift for anniversary #2 is cotton and Ted got me new sheets for our bed. I got Ted a Red Cross jacket and a helping Haiti t-shirt. Callie joined in on the gift opening fun.

Sweet Tea

Chick-fil-A is a restaurant chain that started in Georgia. It specializes in fast food chicken dishes (imagine that) and is also known for their waffle fries and sweet tea. The restaurant chain is centered mostly in the southeastern United States and a few years ago a Chick-fil-A opened in Ventura. My friend Pat bought me a gallon of their sweet tea for my birthday; an incredibly sweet gesture. I have not had sweet tea in years (I didn't drink it that much growing up in North Carolina) and I think this gallon will last me for several years to come. I think I've been on a sugar high since I started drinking it yesterday.

The needlepoint our friend Pat made for us is so beautiful it deserves it's own blog entry. Pat is a great friend and it means a lot that she made this for us.

Anniversary Dinner

Ted and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary at Stella Mare's this evening. As usual everything was fantastic, from the decor to the food to the service. They even surprised us with an anniversary dessert. On a side note, I don't know if it's really a surprise since I told everyone from the hostess to our waitress to the busboy that it was our anniversary. They probably gave it to us to shut me up. Regardless it was a wonderful end to a delicious meal.
