United Way

I was the campaign chair for my company's 2010 United Way campaign. We successful raised over $17k during our week long campaign. As much as I enjoy overseeing the activities I am glad the campaign is over.

Time Once Again

I've been slack in finding interesting photo opportunities lately. I haven't taken any pictures yet today so when we arrived home and I received the latest issue of Time I decided to make it my picture of the day. On a side note I am continuing to enjoy my subscription to Time. It was money well spent.

Night At The Museum: Battle Of The Smithsonian

Ted and I watched Night At The Museum: Battle Of The Smithsonian this evening and many of the scenes reminded me of our trip in October 2007 to Washington DC. Washington has long been one of my favorite cities. The city has such great energy and the history and culture are hard to beat. Abraham Lincoln had a role in the movie and I thought I would share a picture of the Lincoln Memorial from our trip.

Thai Cuisine

I was craving Thai food so Ted and I ate at Thai Cuisine this evening. It was as delicious as I had hoped and it satisfied my craving.

Greenberg

Ted and I watched Greenberg this evening. I would describe it as quirky.

Heart Walk Training

Tonight was our 5th training walk for the American Heart Association Heart Walk. Louise mapped a great 2.5 mile walk along State Street in Santa Barbara. We are increasing our training walk lengths to get ready for the 5k in October.

Recovery

I bought this CD for Ted last weekend but unfortunately it is the edited version which bleeps out curse words. Fortunately Ted noticed that before we opened it so I will be able to return it. I can't imagine what an Eminen CD sounds like with all of the foul language bleeped out. I can't imagine there are many words left.

Crayola

The other day my friend Pat and I were talking about Crayola crayons and she brought in this collectors tin she purchased a number of years ago when Crayola reissued boxes containing their original 8 colors: blue gray, green blue, lemon yellow, maize, orange red, orange yellow, raw umber, and violet blue.

David Sedaris

My friend Kitty lent me this performance CD of David Sedaris. I am a big fan of David's sister Amy Sedaris (she starred in the hilarious Strangers With Candy) but I just recently learned about David's work from Kitty who lent me this CD of his show at Carnegie Hall. His observations and commentary is hilarious and I particularly appreciate that David grew up in Raleigh, NC which is 1 1/2 hours east of where I grew up. I look forward to listening to/reading more of David's work.

Note Cards

I bought these note cards yesterday at TJ Maxx. When I saw them I thought of my grandmother and that I need to send her a letter. Now I will on a fun new card.

Afternoon At The Beach

Ted and I went to Pismo Beach this afternoon to eat at Mo's and spend some time at the beach. It was a bit windy while we were there so it cut our beach time short. Even though we couldn't handle the wind there were plenty of people on the beach and several surfers in the water.

Holdren's Steak And Seafood

My boss Sharon gave me this $20 Holdren's gift card today. She got it from someone else and knows she won't use it so she offered it to me. I've never been to Holdren's but a $20 gift card is reason enough for me to eat there.

Pretty As A Picture

I can't believe how quickly Ilaria is growing and how smart she is. She enjoyed being in front of the camera today and smiled so big when I took her picture.

Whip It

Ted and I were planning on watching Whip It this evening but when we realized it was 2 hours long we decided it was a movie best left for the weekend.

Clean Car

My car hasn't been washed in months and it was looking pretty nasty. I finally got it washed today and it looks pretty snazzy now. I'm no longer embarrassed to drive it.

Step Into Wellness

I didn't take any pictures today so I decided to share a picture I took last week. For my company's United Way silent auction my department created a "Step into wellness" basket. I loved our idea and thought it turned out well.

Irish Soaps

My friend Kitty just got back from Ireland and she brought me these Irish soaps. They are packaged so beautifully I don't want to use them, however they smell so lovely I don't think I will be able to resist.

Death By Chocolate

My company's annual United Way campaign was held last week. One of the fundraisers we have is a silent auction. I was the highest bidder on the "Death by chocolate" basket. What's better than eating chocolate for a great cause.

Brooklyn's Finest

Ted and I watched Brooklyn's Finest this evening. Interesting performances by Don Cheadle, Richard Gere, and Ethan Hawke.

Ilaria Embraces The Camera

Ilaria totally embraced the camera today and showed off her pearly whites.

Halfway There

My company's Heart Walk team completed our four training walk this evening which means we are at the halfway mark of our training. Four more training walks until the Heart Walk in October. Go team.

Crush Cakes

My coworker Barbara gave me a red velvet cake cupcake today from Crush Cakes. I ate it as soon as I got home and it was mighty tasty. I wanted it to last longer.

It's Zach Galifianakis Day

Today was Zach Galifianakis day. First we saw Dinner For Schmucks in the theater then we watched Youth in Revolt at home. Ted and I first saw Zach in The Hangover, a movie we both love. When I Googled Zach I was pleasantly surprised to learn he was born and raised in western North Carolina. Funny guy.

Callie's New Carrier

I bought this new cat carrier for Callie today. So far I think she likes it.

Great Food And Great Entertainment

After work Ted and I headed to downtown Santa Barbara to enjoy Fiesta. Our main objective was to eat and we did not hold back. We ate taquitos, tamales, and pozole; all delicious. After dinner we enjoyed the entertainment of the band Georgetown featuring Lois Mahalia. We had no expectation of enjoying the band and we ended up having a great time. They played lots of great tunes we like including songs by Bob Marley.

I Can't Get Enough

I don't know why I think Callie is so cute in her kim chi box but I do and I can't resist taking her picture when she sits in it.

Viva La Fiesta!

I attended a seminar near the Santa Barbara Mission this morning and as I drove by the Mission I got to see the set-up for La Fiesta Pequena which officially opens Old Spanish Days this evening.

Mug Of Goodies

All of the employees who volunteered at United Way Fun in the Sun a few weeks ago received a mug of goodies during our company's staff meeting today. The goodies include a note pad, a key chain, a pen, and a tape measure/level. It was nice to be recognized for our service.

I Am A Life Saver

My company's Heart Walk team raised $765 for the American Heart Association (AHA) by selling casual day stickers. I met with an AHA rep this morning to turn in the donation and the rep gave me these Life Savers and said, "you are a life saver." How clever.

Lompoc Dog Show

Ted and I went to the Lompoc Dog Show at Ryon Park this morning. We try and attend the dog show every year and every year we are rewarded by seeing lots of beautiful dogs.
