Lemony Goodness

My coworker Sue brought in these delectable lemon cupcakes today to help her department celebrate month end and quarter end. I'm not a member of Sue's department but I managed to get myself invited to have one.

Nicholas And Emiah

My sister had her babies this morning. Nicholas was born at 2:20 am and Emiah was born at 2:23 am.

Bell

My coworker Cynthia emailed this picture of her daughter Maddie and Maddie's pig Bell. According to Cynthia Bell is packing on 2+ pounds per day getting ready for the Santa Maria County fair in July. Pigs have to weigh at least 230 pounds to be auctioned off. I know the whole point of Maddie raising Bell is to get her ready for auction but Bell is so cute I wish they could keep her.

Red Crock Pot

We are having a potluck at work on Friday and the dish I am bringing requires a crock pot so I went out and bought a small red crock pot today. The first one I've ever owned.

The Company Men

Ted and I planned to watch The Company Men last night but when we put it in the DVD player the player couldn't read the disk. It's a good thing our hearts weren't set on watching this movie or we would have been sorely disappointed.

59th Annual Lompoc Valley Flower Festival

Even though we didn't go to the parade this morning Ted and I headed to Ryon Park this afternoon to partake in the Flower Festival activities.

Picture #2: For the first time in the festival's 59 year history they charged admission to the festival which was a huge controversy. Admission was only $3 for adults and children 12 and younger got in for free. It doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me but it was big news in Lompoc.

Mikey

This week's Independent is full of animal stories. A few pages after reading about the kittens at A.S.A.P. I read about Mikey, a 6-month old Staffordshire terrier mix who needs shoulder and hip surgery. Well of course I am going to send in a check so cutie pie Mikey can have surgery. I hope lots of other readers do too so he can have surgery very soon.

Are We Ready To Adopt A Kitten?

I came across this ad for kittens in this week's Independent. We adopted Callie from A.S.A.P. seven years ago and we've been talking about adopting another kitten. When I saw this ad it seemed like fate.

Das Williams

I think it's so funny to receive these generic letters from government representatives. I received this very personal letter from Das Williams congratulating me for receiving the 2011 Outstanding Employee Campaign Manager for 100-250 Employees award from the United Way of Santa Barbara County. I'm sure he slaved over this letter for days.

Just My Size

I don't drink soda very often but every once in a while I crave a carbonated drink. I found these 8oz 7up cans that are the perfect size for quenching my carbonation cravings.

Doritos

Ted keeps bringing me snacks from his office. If I didn't know better I would think he's trying to fatten me up.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hollows: Part 1

The final Harry Potter movie comes out in July so in preparation Ted and I watched Harry Potter And The Deathly Hollows: Part 1 this evening. The books are much better than the movies but the movies but it will be kind of sad to know there will be no more Harry Potter movies after the next movie.

Time And Time And Time Again

The funny thing about a weekly magazine is that when you fall behind in reading it they pile up so quickly. I am now three issues behind in reading my Time magazine. Hopefully I will find some time (pun intended) soon to catch up.

Flowers

Ted brought these beautiful flowers home this evening. It's been a while since I've received flowers and it was a wonderful surprise.

Famous Amos

Ted had a lunch meeting at work today and he snagged me this bag of cookies. Chocolate chip cookies are my favorite.

Quebec

My coworker Racel just got back from a trip to Quebec. She said some of the architecture reminded her of Paris and she lent me this book to look through and read about French inspired architecture.

2011 Heart Walk Training Kickoff

My company kicked off our Heart Walk training this evening after work. We didn't have as many participants as I had hoped but we still walked over two miles and had a great time.

Healthy Living

I got a new pedometer today which I hope will lead to healthier living.

The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo

I felt pressured by a friend to buy this book but I have to admit after reading it she was right. I really enjoyed it. Now I have to read the second and third books in the series.

More Mags

Between Ted and me we've spent so much money on US and People magazines this year I should probably just get a subscription.

Donkeys, And Sheep, And Dogs, Oh My

Ted's corker Chris and his wife Cecilia live in our neighborhood. They own about three acres of land and they recently acquired three donkeys and two sheep. They graze their property and help keep the grass and weeds trimmed. It's such an interesting sight to see when driving through our neighborhood as you normally don't expect to see these types of animals living in your neighborhood. Chris and Cecelia also have two dogs and a cat.

Never Let Me Go

Ted and I watched Never Let Me Go a few weeks ago. The movie has an interesting premise and it does make you think about cloning but it wasn't as moving as I hoped it would be.

World Wildlife Fund

Ted and I received these note pads for our support of the World Wildlife Fund. I use these types of note pads at work every day so they will definitely come in handy.

Naughty Girl

I don't know why I continue to be surprised to find Callie lounging in the guest room. That's where I found her this afternoon and she was happy as a clam.

The Food Lover's Guide To Paris

My coworker Alistair just returned from a trip to Paris and he has been providing me with lots of travel tips. He also lent me this book, The Food Lover's Guide To Paris. This will be helpful as I am not very familiar with French cuisine.

Baby Shower

Today is Carol and Adam's baby shower. Ted and I wanted to attend but it is being held in Chino Hills which is over 3 hours from our house. As much as we want to help them celebrate the upcoming addition to their family that's a little too far for us to drive in one day.

Hector

Hector is the featured animal for June in my ASPCA calendar. Hector reminds me of Daisy, the Siamese cat my family had when I was growing up. The coloring of the fur around Daisy's face and paws was lighter but Hector still reminds me of her.

Guten Tag

Our friends Bryce and Nicole are on holiday in Germany and we received this postcard from them today. Sounds like they are having a wonderful trip.

Happy Birthday, Me-Maw!

Today is my grandmother's 96th birthday. Since my grandmother lives in North Carolina I was not able to see her today but I did speak with her this morning. She sounded wonderful and even though I didn't see her in person I'm glad I was able to wish her a happy birthday over the phone.
