The Adjustment Bureau

Ted and I watched The Adjustment Bureau this evening. It was a bit slow and drawn out but it has an interesting premise. I realized after watching the movie it is based on a short story. I can definitely see it as a short story. Making a full length movie out of the short story was a bit ambitious.

Book Donation

We are having a book sale at work as part of our United Way campaign and there are about half of the books I am donating. I will probably donate between 50-60 books.

Gifts For My Niece And Nephew

I got these Santa Barbara themed onesies for Nicholas and Emiah. I leave for NC next week and I can't wait to meet those precious babies.

Mikey

A few weeks ago Ted and I donated money to C.A.R.E 4 Paws for a puppy named Mikey who needed surgery. Today we received a hand-written thank you note and an update on Mikey's condition. Enough money was raised and Mikey's surgery was successful. He is now healing and will be ready for adoption soon.

Cool Card

I love the thank you card we received from Edward and Stacy. Such a cute idea. I wish I had thought of it for our wedding thank you cards.

Farewell To Lynda

The CEO of my company is leaving and we hosted a send off party in her honor this afternoon.

Family Cookbook

My company is putting together a cookbook as a fundraiser for our United Way campaign. I submitted several recipes from the Family Cookbook. Our friends Carolyn and Vince gave us this cookbook as a wedding gift. Thank you, Carolyn and Vince!

The Lincoln Lawyer

Ted and I watched The Lincoln Lawyer this evening. We both read the book and were interested in seeing the movie. As usual the book was better than the movie.

My aunt Mary emailed these pictures of her meeting Nicholas and Emiah for the first time. They are almost four weeks old and they are growing, growing, growing.

Winne The Pooh

Recently I was talking with my friend Kitty and I mentioned that Pooh was my favorite character growing up. She found these books at home and brought them in for me. Very thoughtful.

The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest

I bought the third book in the trilogy. I felt pressured to buy The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, but I have to admit the books are really good. I'm glad I let myself be pressured to by the first book.

Wyoming Beauty

My friend Pat retired last November and she moved to Wyoming to be closer to one of her sons. The snow is gone and summer has arrived in Wyoming. Pat emailed me several pictures of her vegetable garden and flowers.

Once I finished the first book in the series I bought the second book in the trilogy. So far it's as good as the first book.

American Cancer Society Relay For Life: Part Two

Picture #3: Lots of companies set up booths to raise money. I particularly liked this lemonade stand.
Picture #4: A few years ago I met Adriana through the HR classes I took through UCSB. I haven't seen her in 2 1/2 years and on an unexpected and incredibly sad note, Adriana let me know her husband Nate passed away in March. He passed away after a 10 month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Adriana, her family and friends made up the "La Familia" team. They were the highest fundraisers for the Goleta walk and they raised over $7000 for the American Cancer Society. I was so sad to hear this news but what a wonderful way to honor her husband's life and memory.

Nicholas And Emiah Are Both Home!

Emiah has been in the NICU since she was born on June 29 and my sister and her husband got to bring her home last Friday. Suzie emailed me this picture of their babies together again at home. Such cutie patooties.

American Cancer Society Relay For Life: Part One

Ted and I participated in the American Cancer Society relay for life this afternoon. It was a beautiful day and it felt great to be supporting such a wonderful organization.

Zachary Alexander Has Arrived

Our newest nephew was born this evening. This makes two new nephews and one new niece in less than two weeks. Lots of new babies to love.

Happy 4th Of July/Happy Birthday Joe

Ted and I met his cousin Edward, his wife Stacy, and their friends Joe, Rena, and Cindy in Santa Barbara today. We started off with brunch at Tupelo Junction Cafe. After brunch we strolled down State Street all the way to the wharf. It was a beautiful day to be outdoors and not only is it Independence Day it is also Joe's birthday.

Bowling Fundraiser for the American Cancer Society

Ted and I participated in a bowling fundraiser this evening after work for the American Cancer Society. My coworkers Paul and Edgar joined our team. We weren't the highest scoring team but we placed 4th. Not too shabby.
