Happy Birthday To Me

Such a great birthday. My wonderful husband treated me to a spa afternoon at Chumash's spa. In addition to a regular massage I also had a reflexology foot massage. They were both fabulous. After my treatments Ted took me to dinner at Trattoria Grappolo in Santa Ynez. The food is so delicious and was the perfect way to end the day.

Birthday Fun

When I arrived at work today my office was decorated with happy birthday signs. I also received a gift from the ladies in my department- a gift card to Borders. Yea! This was a great way to kick off my birthday weekend.

UCSB Extension Spring 2009

I received the UCSB Extension spring 2009 course catalog today in the mail. Unfortunately the class I am taking next quarter is Saturdays from 9 am- 1 pm. Bummer.

Ice Cream Sundae

My department treated me to a birthday lunch today at Marmalade Cafe in Santa Barbara. I took a picture of my yummy birthday sundae.

Thank You Cards

The rule of thumb is that you have one year from your wedding date to send out thank you cards. We mailed our guests' thank you cards soon after the wedding, however I applied the one year rule to our vendor thank you cards. I cannot say enough about all of the vendors we worked with, from the florist to the baker, to the DJ. I bought three each of the pictured thank you cards and mailed them out today- right under the one year mark.

American Teen

Ted and I watched this documentary yesterday. There were some very heartwarming moments in the documentary, but there were a few times I literally cringed as I remembered my own teenage years.

Wall-E

Ted and watched Wall-E last night. It was different than what I thought it would be, but it was still cute.

Taken

Ted and I saw Taken this afternoon. We both enjoyed the movie. I wasn't too sure about an action movie starring Liam Neeson, but he played it well.

Dogs and Goddesses

My mom went to a book signing a few weeks ago. My mom and I share a passion for reading, so for my birthday my mom sent me a copy of Dogs and Goddesses signed by all three authors. I'm so excited to have a new book to read.

Money Sucker

Each week I give this machine $3.00 so I can park in the UCSB parking lot. I've thought about not buying a parking ticket, but so many people in my class have received parking tickets. The UCSB parking authorities do not play around.

Content Callie

Callie continues to take full advantage of her snugly bed whenever she can. Thanks again, Carolyn and Vince!

My New Favorite Cereal

I bought this cereal for the first time a few weeks ago and now I'm addicted. It's good with milk, but even better when eaten dry.

Love Actually

Love Actually is a great movie. Ted and I watched it yesterday; Ted for the first time, and me for the 6th or 7th time. Even after how many times I've seen it I cry every time I watch it- happy tears. Rent this movie!

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

Today is chilly and windy, the perfect day to stay in and watch a movie, so that's what Ted and I did. We watched The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. A very cute movie.

Happy Valentine's Day And Happy Birthday Dad

Ted and I went to Pismo Beach for Valentine's Day. It was a chilly day, but the sun was out and you could see for miles. While the selection of food at the Rod Shop on the pier (pickles, peanuts, and popcorn) sounded tempting, we opted for our favorite and had lunch at Mo's. At the end of the pier we met this pelican. I wouldn't say he was friendly but he certainly was not phased by people.

It's my dad's birthday. Happy birthday dad!

Early Valentine's Day And Cake

Today we had cake to celebrate the February birthdays in our office. Since my birthday is in February of course I had to try a piece. I received a few Valentine's items from coworkers today. The second picture is the funniest item I received. Happy early Valentine's Day!

Cards For Ted

When I was looking for Valentine's Day cards for Ted I couldn't decide between a funny card and a sappy, romantic card so I bought one of each.

Yo-yo

Ted attended a conference today in Anaheim and he brought me back this yo-yo. I have not yo-yoed in years. It was fun to try again.

Popcorn Galore

Ted bought me a lifetime supply of popcorn at Costco today. Well, I suppose for some it may be a lifetime supply but for me it will probably only last a few months. I love popcorn. Especially movie theater butter popcorn.

Happy And Sad News

Ted and I had dinner with our friends Allisa and Chris at Outback Steakhouse this evening (yum!). While it was wonderful to see them, they shared with us they are moving to northern CA in less than two weeks. We knew they were moving soon but had no idea how soon. We are very excited for the opportunities that await them, however we will miss having them close by.

Toblerone Again

One of Ted's co-workers got back from a business trip in Germany last week and he brought us this Toblerone candy. Yum.

The House Bunny

Ted and I watched this movie last night. It was surprisingly funny. We both enjoyed it.

Oh Happy Day

I received these flowers and balloon today from a former coworker. I've been working to resolve some outstanding issues for her, and after 8 months of research and legwork I was able to confirm the issue was resolved yesterday. It was completely unnecessary, but extremely thoughtful of Kate to send these to me. They brightened up an otherwise rainy and dreary day. It's also a great reminder to me how much a gesture, like sending flowers, can positively impact the person receiving them.

Zero

Do not adjust your screen. What you are reading is true... I received a zero on my homework from last week. Enough said.

UNC Alumni Review

The latest UNC alumni review arrived today in the mail. I love keeping tabs on what's happening at my Alma Mater.

Customer Service Award

In December I received the 2008 extraordinary customer service award from my company. Apparently Pedro Nava's office saw the press release about the award, and today in our company staff meeting the CEO presented me with this certificate of recognition from the CA Legislature. Pretty cool.

Graffiti

While I find a lot of graffiti extremely beautiful it is still vandalism. This is not an example of beautiful graffiti.

The Super Bowl and Subs

Today Ted and I watched the super bowl and ate submarine sandwiches from Quiznos. I used a coupon for $2.00 off our order. You've got to love coupons.
