Honeymoon: Day Three
What a fantastic day. Ted and I drove to Chichen Itza today. It was a long drive (about 3 hours each way), but completely worth it. Right before Chichen Itza we stopped in a tiny town called Piste for a very delicious lunch. After lunch we were ready to explore Chichen Itza.
Picture #1: A view of the long highway to Chichen Itza.
Picture #2: The old fashion coke bottles from lunch.
Picture #3: Our first view of El Castillo. Simply breathtaking.
Picture #4: A closer view of El Castillo.
Picture #5: Temple de los Gerreros.
Picture #6: A side view of the observatory.
Picture #7: Ted in front of the columns in El Palacio de las Columnas Esculpidas.
Picture #8: Part of the nunnery complex.
Picture #9: Another view of El Castillo.
Picture #10: A cenote (a sinkhole with exposed rocky edges containing groundwater).
Picture #11: It's really hard to express how impressive and beautiful El Castillo is. We could not take enough pictures. This is our last view of El Castillo as we were leaving Chichen Itza and just seconds before the sky opened up and poured rain.
