Delicious Sweets

Ted played in a poker tournament at Chumash Casino today. On his way home he stopped at Enjoy Cupcakes in Solvang and brought home these delicious cupcakes.

Crazy Heart

Ted and I watched Crazy Heart this evening. It is a beautiful story. Jeff Bridges definitely deserved an Oscar for his role. He played it beautifully. I'm a country music fan so the music in the film was a bonus.

Third Walk Down

Our Heart Walk team completed our third training walk after work today. We started the walk from our downtown office and it took us through beautiful Santa Barbara.

The Generosity Of Neighbors

When we got home this evening we found this bag of beans and apples. They are from our neighbor's, Kathy and Winnie, garden. A wonderful surprise.

As we flew home today I looked out the window at the desert and was so happy we did not drive to Vegas.

Another Eventful Day In Vegas

It was another hot day in Vegas today.

Great Day To Sit Poolside

It was hot, hot, hot today in Vegas. After a delicious brunch at Palazzo, Nicole, Bryce and I spent the majority of the afternoon at the pool. The pool was crowded but still a very nice place to sit and relax on a hot day. For dinner we dined at Lupo, another Wolfgang Puck restaurant, at Mandalay Bay. After dinner we saw The Lion King. The show was amazing. I've wanted to see this show since it opened on Broadway in NYC, and the wait was worth it. It is definitely one of the best shows I've seen at the theater.

Las Vegas Bound

We flew to Las Vegas this afternoon to hang out with our friends Bryce and Nicole for the weekend. After getting settled in to our hotel rooms at the Palazzo we met for dinner at Cut, a Wolfgang Puck steakhouse. The food was unbelievable and had a price tag to match. Definitely a five star establishment.

Like Water For Chocolate Take Two

I tried watching Like Water for Chocolate a few years ago but I didn't like it. My friend Pat loves the movie and the book and was telling me about them the other day. To hear Pat describe the story it sounds interesting so I figured I would give the movie another try. Pat lent me the movie and the book. I'll start with the movie and if I like it I will try the book.

A Beautiful Day For In-N-Out

I brought my lunch to work today but it was so beautiful I had to get out and enjoy the sun and fresh air so I treated myself to In-N-Out.

Inception And 2 Free Movie Tickets To Boot

Ted and I saw Inception this afternoon. It was really good. I had no idea what the movie was about and I'm happy to say I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the movie. Unfortunately the projector stopped four times during the movie, each time at a pivotal point in the movie. On the upside, we got two free movie passes for the hassle.

Eeyore

I bought Eeyore from Kohls this afternoon. He fits right in with all the other animals.

Not Really An Education

Ted and I were going to watch An Education this evening but I was in the mood for a scary movie so we watched The Alphabet Killer through the Netflix watch instantly option. It wasn't very good.

Cell Phone Fun

Ilaria had a ball this afternoon playing with Carolyn's cell phone. She was in 7th heaven.

Second Heart Walk Training

Very Clever

My boss Sharon went to the 2010 SHRM convention in San Diego two weeks ago and got all kinds of fun goodies from different vendors. One that I think is particularly clever are these paperclips shaped like glasses that she got from a vision carrier.

Daybreakers

Ted and I watched Daybreakers last night. I haven't seen a movie with Ethan Hawke in a while and he did a pretty good job.

Fun, fun day. Ted and I spent the afternoon in Solvang and then had dinner at Trattoria Grappolo in Santa Ynez. The weather could not have been any nicer in Solvang; perfect for walking around.

Lunch Bunch

My company volunteered at the United Way Fun in the Sun Lunch Bunch today at Goleta Valley Junior High. Lunch Bunch is an opportunity for local companies to spend a lunch hour with elementary school kids eating lunch then playing games. This was my second year participating and I spent the hour playing card games with two kids, Martina and Benji and had a great time. This is a picture of the volunteers from my company. Old School

When I was in North Carolina last month I found my first computer and printer. My parents bought them for me before my freshman year of college. At the time they were state of the art; seeing them now they almost seem like toys. At the time though I loved them. Most of my college papers were typed on this computer and I found a few that were still saved. Talk about old school.
